LOS ANGELES – April 7, 2016 – In its third week of release, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” is sharing the reins with Melissa McCarthy’s “The Boss” at the top of Fandango’s Fanticipation movie buzz indicator, scoring a powerful 81 and 80 points out of 100 points, respectively.
Among new releases, McCarthy’s R-rated comedy is outselling “Tammy,” her previous feature with husband-director Ben Falcone, at the same point in the Fandango sales cycle. The new first-person-perspective action flick, “Hardcore Henry,” is appealing to fans of high-octane entertainment, outselling “Hitman: Agent 47” at the same point in the sales cycle.
“Movie fans in search of a date night or girls’ night out are looking forward to Melissa McCarthy’s latest outing as ‘The Boss,'” says Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis, “while action fans will revisit the big-screen showdown between Batman and Superman in its third weekend or plan to take a wildly innovative ride with ‘Hardcore Henry.'”
Known for having its finger on the pulse of moviegoers, Fandango’s movie buzz indicator, Fanticipation, provides statistical insight into the movies fans are planning to see in a given weekend. Fanticipation scores (based on a 1 to 100-point scale) are calculated via an algorithm of Fandango’s advance ticket sales, website and mobile traffic, and social media engagement. Fanticipation is not intended as a forecast of the weekend box office; it is a snapshot of movie fan sentiment. Fandango is the nation’s leading digital destination for moviegoers and fans with more than 49 million unique visitors per month.*
